    Naipunnya Institute of Management and Information Technology (NIMIT) is located at Pongam, Trissur. This is the pioneer institution to start the B.Sc degree programme in Hotel Management under Calicut University. NIMIT is proud to say that it was awarded as the Best Hotel Management Institute by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala in 2004. It is the first college in Kerala to offer a University degree in Hotel Management from the Calicut University. Under the visionary leadership of Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kalapurackal and Rev. Fr. Paul Kaithotungal, the department was formally established in 2002 with the commencement of BSc in Hotel Management Degree programme with an intake of 24 students. The first batch graduated in 2005. In the year 2012, BSc. in Hotel Management and Culinary Arts affiliated to Calicut University was introduced and the first batch graduated in 2015 The Institute encompasses the best of the infrastructure, state-of-the-art computer labs with most modern machines, training restaurants, training kitchen, audio-visual room and well-equipped library. The Institute is unique in its approach towards professionalism whereby students are given the best professional training so that they get a platform for further growth and development. Presently, there are about 350 students pursuing their degree programme in the department and 14 faculty members with Mr Robert Fernandez, heading the department and Rev. Fr. ( Dr.) Paul Kaithotungal as the Director and Principal of the Institution.
